Half Marathon Florence postponed to 2021 Members’ fees automatically transferred to next year

The Half Marathon Florence is postponed to 2021. The decision was taken by UISP – Unione Italia Sport per Tutti, organizer of the event, which at the beginning of the lockdown had already moved to autumn the race scheduled for April 5, leaving open the possibility of holding the event within the year; but today, the anti-coronavirus safety rules, aimed at ensuring maximum safety of participants, make the organizational and logistical aspects difficult, and hence the final decision to cancel this edition.

“We received words of encouragement from various parts of the world, which have given us so much positivity – says Marco Ceccantini, President UISP Florence – and we waited and hoped that we could start again soon, but the path was longer than expected, we were suspended for months. The world health emergency continues to affect the movements, actions and daily life of people. The international dimension of the Half Marathon Florence, where every year athletes from over 40 nations come to the city of Florence, would not guaranteed the aim of this sport event that is not only made of medals, but that involves runners and spectators in a great party. Ours is a realistic and prudent choice and for this reason the Half Marathon Florence for this year stops here”.

The new date has been found: it will be Sunday, April 11th, 2021.
Confirmed the main sponsors HOKA ONE ONE E ERREÀ who shared the decision and renewed their trust.

For those who had already enrolled in the various races in the program – HALF MARATHON – RUN IN 2 – NON COMPETITIVE 8km and RUN/WALK 5 KM – there is the automatic transfer of the fee to the 2021 edition without any additional cost.

It is also possible to transfer your 2020 registration to another person who can then participate in the race in 2021.

Registrations for the 2021 edition will open in October 2020.
